RDS Grunting

Definition:                                                                                 

Grunting is a deep-pitched gutteral rumble which may be heard by infants suffering from respiratory distress.

Mechanism of action:                                                                        

Grunting is a forced expiration against a closed glottis. It is characteristic of painful and labored breathing and of expiratory effort 

الطفل بيحبس النفس داخل الرئه وبيقفل القصبه الهوائيه فا بيطلع صوت النته  محاوله منه لزياده الضغط للحفاظ على الرئه مفتوحه ومن هنا جات فكرة السباب 

Causes of granting:                                                                                                                        

wet lung with amniotic fluid       

meconium aspiration       

pneumonia       

Complications of grunting:                                                                       

pneumothorax

IVH  intraventricular hemorrhage of newborn 

retinopathy of prematurity blindness 

pulmonary hemorrhage

Treatment of the granting:                                                                                                         

Definition of cpap:                                                                                                                     

continuous positive airway pressure it is a method of positive pressure ventilation used with patients who are breathing spontaneously, done to keep the alveoli open at the end of exhalation and thus increase oxygenation
and reduce the work of breathing.       مزيج بين الهواء والاكسجين مجموعهم 8 لتر فى الساعه بحيث الاكسجين لا يزيد عن 4 لتر ما يساوى fio2 نسبه اكسجين 60 % وفى عامل اخر بيتحكم فى السباب وهو ال peep  postive end expiratory pressure الضغط المتبقى فى الرئه بعد عملية الزفير للحفاظ على الرئه مفتوحهجهاز نصف تنفس صناعى السباب
